We shot this project just outside Cape Town, driven more by a feeling than a fixed plan. A good friend lent us his pickup truck for half a day, and from the beginning I had a very clear image in mind: the truck cutting through the landscape, with an old motorbike riding alongside it to add friction, movement, and a sense of urgency.
On the morning of the shoot, that idea almost fell apart. The rider we had planned with cancelled at the very last minute. With barely two hours left, we started driving around, stopping at motorbike rentals, asking questions, following leads. Just as time was running out, we met an older man who owned several beautifully maintained vintage bikes. He listened to the idea, smiled, and simply said yes. No hesitation. He joined us on the road and, in doing so, quietly saved the entire project.
None of this would have been possible without my incredible team. From the first rough mood boards to the final series, it’s always a privilege to watch an idea evolve into something real. In the end, it’s exactly these unplanned moments that give a project its life.
